Easter With the Kingنموونە

The Red Carpet
Jesus' Triumphal Entry: Luke 19:28-40
Theme verse: Luke 19:36
The red carpet has long been a symbol of honor and respect, often used to signify the arrival of someone of great importance, such as royalty. It draws attention and declares, “Here comes someone special.” Just as earthly royalty is welcomed with grandeur, God prepared a “red carpet” for His Son, Jesus Christ. On His triumphant entry into Jerusalem, the people laid down palm branches and their clothing, creating a symbolic “red carpet” for the King of Kings. (Mark 11:8)
This moment was a countdown to the greatest event in history. Much like how no one remains seated when earthly royalty, such as the British king, makes a grand entrance, no one stayed still when Jesus entered the city. The crowd made way, singing praises and shouting joyfully. If they had been silent, even the rocks would have cried out in worship! (Luke 19:40)
Questions:
1. In what ways might John the Baptist (Matthew 3:3) have been a "red carpet", ushering in the arrival of King Jesus?
2. The Pharisees resisted the crowds proclaiming Christ as he entered Jerusalem. (Luke 19:39-40) In what ways are people still resisting the arrival of King Jesus?
3. Did the crowd's worship persist through the trials of that week? How persistent is your worship?

This 5-day Easter Bible reading plan by Kristi Krauss invites you to celebrate Jesus Christ, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords. Throughout history, royalty has been honored with crowns and grand ceremonies, yet no ruler compares to Jesus, whose eternal reign brings true peace, hope, and salvation. Over 2,000 years ago, He bore a crown of thorns, later exchanged for a crown of glory. This Easter, let us reflect on His sacrifice, rejoice in His resurrection, and give glory to our eternal King!
