Breaking the Silence of Domestic Abuseنموونە

1Moving From Fear to Boldness
I remember calling a shelter for myself and my children. I asked if there was any space available for us. The night before, I had slept on the couch of a family member, too scared to go back home after a fight with my ex spiraled out of control. “Sorry, we don’t have space for you tonight. Can you stay where you are?” they asked.
At that moment, I knew it was time to make healthy and wise decisions; not only for me but also for my children. I needed God’s help to leave this abusive marriage. It was time to break free from fear and step into boldness. The cry of my daughter and the shouts of my sons as I lay on the floor that made me realize it was time to rise up, leave the marriage, and start living again.
The Word of God reminded me that He never leaves nor forsakes us. I may have felt alone, but God was always with me, counting every tear I cried. Even though I couldn’t always feel His presence through the storm, He was near. It was time to start sharing what was happening inside my marriage and step out of fear into boldness.
