21 Days: Commissionedنموونە

DAY 6: OUTRAGEOUS OBEDIENCE
Key verse: March around the city once with all the armed men. Do this for six days. Have seven priests carry trumpets of rams’ horns in front of the ark. On the seventh day, march around the city seven times, with the priests blowing the trumpets. - Joshua 6:3-4
In Joshua 6, God gives the Israelites a battle plan that sounded anything but strategic. March around Jericho for seven days, then shout? It seemed ridiculous. At the heart of this command, God was simply asking them to trust Him. They did just that and through simple obedience, they witnessed the impossible take place – the walls of Jericho fell.
Moses watched the mighty Red Sea part on God’s simple directive to lift his staff and stretch out his hand (Exodus 14:16).
Naaman was healed of leprosy when he dipped himself in the river seven times on prophet Elisha’s instruction (2 Kings 5:14).
The disciples hauled a great catch of fish when he lowered his nets again on Jesus’ command (Luke 5:4-10).
Noah built an ark for over a hundred years, when up to that time, there was no rain or flood in the earth (Genesis 6:22).
Peter walked on water when he stepped out of the boat on Jesus’ invitation (Matthew 14:28-29).
Your obedience, even in the smallest things, can be the key to unlocking God’s victory in your life. You may not understand why God is asking you to walk around your “Jericho” in a certain way, but if He’s calling you to it, He will bring the walls down.
What “walls” are you facing today? What simple step of obedience is God asking you to take? Remember, the power isn’t in our efforts – it’s in trusting the One who gave the command. Step out in faith, and watch God bring victory.
Response
Is there an area in your life where God is asking you to take a simple step of obedience, even if it doesn’t make sense? Can you trust Him in that area and take steps of obedience today?
(Examples: reaching out to encourage someone, taking time for prayer despite a busy schedule, choosing honesty in a tough situation, stepping up to serve in a new area, or sharing your faith with someone in your circle etc)

In this 21-day devotional, Commissioned, we’ll explore how God called Joshua to lead His people into the Promised Land—and how He’s calling each of us to step into our own mission. Just like Joshua, we are commissioned by God to advance His purposes, no matter where we are. Over these next 21 days, you’ll be challenged to walk in faith, courage, and obedience, knowing that God goes before you, equips you, and strengthens you for every battle ahead. Prepare to reflect on your calling and the impact God wants to make through your life.
