The Israelites continue their journey by defeating several local kings along the way. The king of Moab summons Balaam, a prophet for hire, to thwart their momentum. Balaam ends up blessing the Israelites instead. Ultimately, they arrive on the plains of Moab, on the east side of the Jordan River. Numbers concludes with a second census, which reveals that the total number of Israelites has remained relatively the same over the last 40 years.
