For most of my childhood, I couldn't understand humility. We're created in God's image, and God is amazing. So, why shouldn't I embrace my greatness? As I've grown older, I've learned what humility truly is and what it isn't. Humility isn't downplaying our talents or self-worth or disregarding who God made us to be. Humility recognizes that our talents are God-given and that we can't be our best selves without God. It’s understanding our greatness while acknowledging that God is greater. Humility looks like knowing you're smart but still studying, being athletic but still practicing, or having great friends but being kind to others. It's embracing our gifts while allowing God's greatness to work in our lives.
This week, challenge yourself to do just that! Consider one area of your life you’re good at or feel good about, and ask God to help you exercise more humility in that place.
