Haggaiنموونە

Context
Around 70 years after the Babylonian exile of the people from Jerusalem, the Persians overthrew Babylon and allowed some of the Hebrews to return. They find themselves back in their land, rebuilding. Haggai’s message comes that it is time for the people to rebuild the temple before they focus on building their own lives. He knew it was important that the people didn’t get settled and comfortable in the land and forget the Presence of God, afterall, the reason for exile had been this very thing.
The Lord asks the people: “Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin?” (v4 NIV)
This week’s study can be summarized in three words: reflection, obedience, and work. Over the next three days, we will look at each of these.
