Praying in the Fire

DAY 2 OF 5

[IMAGE CONTENT] ### Day #2: Pray for Safety on the Job! Being a first responder spouse means the love of your life is running toward danger when everyone else is running from it. As their spouse, this has a way of burdening our hearts, leaving our minds on overdrive, and our bodies tossing and turning when they are on night shift. Today we pray for safety on the job - whether he is performing CPR, at a dangerous HAZMAT incident, rescuing someone as he repels down a building or bridge, or as he is running into burning buildings — we pray for safety over him. Give him the strength and clarity he needs. Let us also pray for our own hearts – that we would trust God with our first responder’s safety rather than wallow in worry when he is on shift . Instead of sitting by your phone, worrying about his safety while on shift, PRAY. Get on your knees and let the tears flow. Instead of constantly listening to the scanner or checking PulsePoint to see if there is a five-alarm fire or hostage situation, open God’s Word and bathe yourself in the promises of God. Stay away from constantly scrolling the news and stay close to God's Word. Pray. Jam to your praise music. Invest in your family. Keep making home a safe place. Prayer: Heavenly Father, Please guide and direct my heart during times of stress when my first responder is literally running into the fire. Please help this lifestyle guide me to combat stress and anxiety on my knees, trusting You with my first responder's safety. Please give me the courage to hold things down at home and help my children see a lifestyle of trusting You in these dangerous situations. Please give my first responder the clarity he needs to work quickly and efficiently in these situations that require prompt decision-making in life-or-death situations. In Jesus' Name, Amen
