DAY 9 – Understand Your Authority

David understood the authority in which he stood as he replied to the Philistines, “You come at me with a sword and a spear and a javelin, but I come at you in the name of the Lord of Heaven's armies and the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied”.(1Samuel 17:45)

What an amazing scripture! Just imagine it. There stands Goliath as David approaches him defiantly saying, “You come at me, but I come at you”. How amazing is that? It is a perspective reversal: you come at me, but actually, I come at you!

David understood his authority. I want to remind our hearts today that all authority has been given to you. If you are a Christian, you have incredible authority because you have the Holy Spirit dwelling within. You carry the name of Jesus. The enemy may come at me, but I come at him because I have a Name that is greater than any other name. It is the name of Jesus! And every knee is going to bow, and every tongue is going to confess that He is Lord.

I want to encourage our church in the year ahead. Let's walk in our God-given authority saying, “I have faith for this”.

Prayer:

Mighty God, thank You for your Holy Spirit who dwells in me to give me strength, and that my faith can stand strong in the face of opposition. As I look forward to the year ahead, I pray that I can say “I have faith for this” in every situation because I stand in the authority of Jesus. I pray and intercede for those who need the power of Your Spirit to stand in this authority, and that they will see victory as they do.
