Paul opens his letter with a plea to the church of Philippi. He is an elderly man, no longer concerned with his own benefit. He wishes only that more and more people hear the Gospel, and become more like Jesus.
"Then make me truly happy by agreeing wholeheartedly with each other, loving one another, and working together with one mind and purpose. Don’t be selfish; don’t try to impress others. Be humble, thinking of others as better than yourselves. Don’t look out only for your own interests, but take an interest in others, too. You must have the same attitude that Christ Jesus had." (Philippians 2:2-5)

The letter to the church in Philippi is an incredible example of what it means to live as a follower of Jesus in light of what was accomplished in Jesus' death and resurrection. This book is an essential text for the church as we seek to live the way of Jesus in practice.
