SoulConnect - Twelve Steps for a Faith That Multipliesنموونە

Step Two: Acknowledging Your Brokenness
We acknowledge our own brokenness and the brokenness of others, which the Bible says is sin. We consider the possibility that there may be a way to address the problem of sin. According to the Bible, sin has separated humans from God and introduced spiritual and physical death into the world.
We reflect on the concept of separation from God and its impact on our lives. We explore the idea of reconnecting with a higher power, someone beyond ourselves, who could restore wholeness and peace to our lives.
Christian Approach:
In the Christian faith, this restoring higher power is known as God, manifest as the Father (Yahweh), the Son (Jesus), and the Holy Spirit. The Biblical story of redemption is articulated throughout the Bible, starting with the brokenness introduced by sin in Genesis 3 in the Fall of Adam and Eve. God allowed Adam and Eve to choose a path that led to separation from Him, as described in the Bible. In doing so, Adam and Eve separated themselves from God and also alienated their own souls. Becoming, growing, and reproducing as a Christian involves a continual process of acknowledging this brokenness and inviting God to save, redeem, and revive us. According to Christian teaching, the path back to spiritual wholeness is through Jesus Christ.
Reflection:
Confront your own sinful brokenness. Reflect on the following questions:
- What aspects of your life reveal your brokenness or shortcomings?
Discussion:
Share your reflections with your group or accountability partner. How do you perceive brokenness in your life, and how does it impact your spiritual journey?
Application:
- Take time to reflect on specific areas in your life where brokenness exists.
- Consider seeking God's forgiveness and cleansing by confessing your sins to Him.
- Embrace the promise of healing and restoration as you draw near to God with a humble and contrite heart.
Stay committed to acknowledging your brokenness and seeking God's healing as we continue this journey together. Next, we will explore Step 3: Considering the Christian Message.
