Noah Finds Favor
Free will is a dangerous gift. We can choose our own path, will, or way with free will. We can choose to trust and obey God's commands and principles, or we can choose to follow the lusts of our flesh.
In today's verses, we experience God's disappointment that humankind has chosen to follow their flesh's lusts and not God's commands and principles. Therefore, the righteous response is the death promised earlier (Genesis 3:19).
However, we also experience God's character in these verses. We see the mercy, grace, longsuffering, abounding-in-goodness God where the word declares, "But Noah found favor in the eyes of God."
Our God is a God of life. He created us to experience life with Him. He set the promise of a Savior in motion so humans could find the path to reconciliation with him.
Question: Spend some time meditating on the great gift of God's favor. How have you experienced God's favor throughout your life? Give thanks for those times.
Prayer: Father, thank you! We find ourselves saying that a lot: thank you. Your merciful grace is more than we can comprehend, yet we long for your grace to fill every day of our lives. Father, thank you!
