CALLING: ANOINTING VS. APPOINTING
A key to walking in what God has called you to do is recognizing the difference between anointing & appointing.
When David was a teenage boy, the great prophet Samuel came and anointed him to be king. He had a calling at that time to be king, but he wasn't yet living in that reality.
In fact, right after his anointing to be king, he went straight to serving the current king, Saul. It would be one thing if Saul was a great and honorable king, but he wasn't. Still, David did not get impatient and try to force his way into being the king. He was humble & patient and waited on God's promotion.
David was anointed around the age of 15, but it wasn't until he was 30 years old that he was actually appointed as king. It was 15 years of being faithful to God and serving others before he walked in what God had called him to do.
As you learn more about God's calling for your life, take a cue from David's life: be patient, stay humble, serve others, and don't be in a rush.
