LENT - a Journey for Teens: The Places We Goنموونە

I am the Beloved
Henri Nouwen tells us a very important truth of who we are - whether we feel it or not. That long before we are born and long after we die, we are God’s beloved.
Sometimes you might feel that you’re not good enough, because you haven’t experienced it or felt it before. You might be carrying a message from an experience that plays on repeat “I am not good enough”. This can be from failure, something that was spoken over you by friends or family, or because you feel ashamed.
The truth, as Henri tells us, is that you have been beloved long before your parents, friends, siblings, teachers and those in your school said anything about you. You are special because you belong to God. The good news is: we are good enough because we are the loved ones of God, who has made us right and good in Jesus.
Exercise:
Take a moment today to think about a moment where you knew that you were loved and cherished - maybe by a friend, a family member or a teacher. See how God was claiming you as His loved one through these moments.
Prayer:
I have loved you with and everlasting love; I have drawn you with an unfailing kindness. (Jeremiah 31:3)
Thank you, Heavenly Father, for loving me.

This Lent plan invites you to face that which you so easily avoid - your humanity, your brokenness, your sadness and disappointments. For the next 40 days, we will embark on an adventure filled with some alone time, prayer and fasting. Each day will provide a scripture, a guide, an exercise and a grace prayer which you can pray throughout your day.
