40 Days of Prayer & Fastingنموونە

Who Should Fast?
If you are a follower of Jesus, you are called to fast. Matthew 9:14 says that His disciples WILL fast. As followers of Christ, we are called to deny ourselves and set aside our selfish self-interest. A disciple’s job is to deny themselves. Jesus tells us that if we truly want to follow Him, we must completely reject and disown our own lives, set aside our selfish interests, and continually surrender to His ways. Scripture says that whoever loses his life for God's sake will find it. Ask the Lord what self-interest you need to set aside today.
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, that I get to be a disciple of You. Thank you for teaching me Your ways and showing me what pleases You. Show me what it looks like to pick up my cross and follow You. I surrender to Your ways. I understand that as Your follower, my job is to deny myself. Give me the strength to do just that. Lord, YOU are my daily bread and I exchange my appetite for food for an appetite for your word. I declare that You are all that I need. Amen.
