Living in the "In-Between"نموونە

Do you ever feel like you’re not [fill in the blank] enough? Everyone might insert a different word in the blank, but we all have insecurities. God knows we do! He doesn’t invite perfect people into his big story; he calls regular, imperfect people and equips them for his work. It’s an amazing plan - he uses ordinary people in extraordinary ways for his glory!
One of the best examples of God using someone who struggles with insecurity is Moses. In Exodus chapter 3, we find him living in despair in the desert as an outcast because he killed someone. He was 80 years old, and he thought he was done. What was God going to do with a former prince of Egypt now working as a lowly shepherd?
Then, one day a bush near Moses appeared to catch fire. From the bush, God spoke to Moses and called him to a very important work - leading God’s people out of slavery into freedom! All of Moses’ insecurities came out, and he told God his fears and weaknesses (as if God didn’t already know them)!
Moses felt like he wasn’t enough, but God had called him to participate in his big story. God believed in Moses and promised to help him through it if Moses would trust him and obey his direction. And that’s true for us too! When we feel scared or insecure, we need to remember that God is at work! God knows us and loves us - even though we mess up or fall short.
You might feel scared today. You might feel insecure today. And that puts you in good company with people like Moses. But those feelings won’t scare God away. He loves you and is calling you into a stronger relationship with him. He wants to include you in the big story of grace and love he’s writing to the world.
Consider: Why did Moses tell God his fears and insecurities? Did those things change God’s mind or God’s call? Like Moses, our part in God’s big story is never over.
Reflect: Have you ever felt the tug on your heart where God was calling you to do something? What fears and insecurities did you feel? Did you choose to trust God anyway?
