Shield of Faith: Devotions for Military Familiesنموونە

Help from the Lord
Where is the first place you go for help when you’re in trouble? Unfortunately, when we struggle with worry, anxiety, depression, or discouragement, we often try to just carry it on our own. Internal struggles are often the hardest, especially when we find ourselves without our normal support system due to the ebb and flow of military life. We isolate or pretend everything is okay until we reach a breaking point. Often, we could have avoided that point if we hadn’t tried to solve our own problems or deal with them alone. We have access to help from the Lord if we’d only lift our heads to see he is ready and waiting to help us when we come to him. The psalm says that the Lord “will not suffer thy foot to be moved: he that keepeth thee will not slumber…nor sleep” (vv. 3–4 KJV). God never takes a break from watching over you and won’t allow you to slip and fall when you are dedicated to living a life for him. Jesus Christ should be the first place you go for help. He is there to help you, lift you up, and keep you moving forward in the life he’s planned for you.
Dear God, thank you for helping me. Please give me the assurance that I can look to you in times of need and the confidence to seek your help first.
