Have you ever been in a tough situation and wished you'd had a friend to comfort you? Maybe you lost a loved one, got disappointing news, were sick or in pain, got embarrassed about something, or felt like a failure. If you've ever experienced any of these situations, you know how important friendship can be when we need comfort. In John 11, there's a story about Jesus mourning and comforting his friends after their friend Lazarus dies. We see Jesus comfort others in that moment with his words, presence, and actions. It's a great reminder to not only be comforters to each other but also to remember that Jesus is our best source of comfort. Sometimes, you'll need comfort. Sometimes, you'll be the friend who can comfort someone else. Either way, real friendships are an opportunity for us to love and care for each other the way God loves and cares for us because real friends comfort each other.
