The Book of Romans: A 16 Day Devotionalنموونە

I love to zoom in deep into individual verses in the Bible, but something equally beautiful occurs when we zoom out on the scripture and look for threads on which to anchor our lives.
When we do this with Romans 8, we find the Beloved Community; the communion of the Holy Three.
We see the powerful invitation of the Spirit guiding our minds into peace and life, into adoption, into a life covered by His intercession for us despite our weaknesses (v. 6, 15, 27).
We see the gracious ways of the Son that defy condemnation, living in us, and making us co-heirs with Him (v. 1, 11, 17).
If we zoom out further, the radical love of the Father is clearly seen. Christ has positioned us so we can cry out to the Father, to “Abba” like a child, pushing against our natural instincts of fear (v. 15). Then we are told that nothing, NO THING, in all creation, can separate us from His love (v. 39).
Jesus didn’t just save us but has positioned us at the heart of a holy daily communion table. The challenge for us today is: Will we sit, eat, drink, talk and commune with Them. Today, don’t pause in places of condemnation, but realize that Christ has positioned you so close to the Father that we can hear Abba whisper, “Welcome.”
Reflection
Focus on taking a bit of time each day to commune with Christ. Imagine Him sitting at the table with you. Tell Him about your day, in the same way a child tells mum & dad about theirs. He’s waiting for you.
