In Mark 5, Jesus heals a woman with a blood disease and raises a young girl from the dead. Jesus healed countless people during his ministry, but Mark chose to include these instances in his gospel to make an intentional point: Jesus not only heals but makes those who are considered unclean clean!
With these stories, Mark shows his readers that Jesus, rather than being made unclean by contact, actually makes us clean. He is a walking beacon of God’s holiness, spreading God’s radiant life in a creation marred by death.
