Undivided: Finding Wholeness in Christ When Life Is Pulling You Apartنموونە

Am I Too Busy?
When I was younger, I could remember things without writing them down. I remembered appointments, birthdays, phone numbers, and details from conversations. Now, if I don’t write it down, I won’t remember it. Part of it could be that I have gotten older, but I think a more significant part is trying to hold on to too many things. I have too much going on. I’m too busy.
Can you relate?
Our society has equated busyness with importance and value. We proudly share how full our schedules are and how much we must do, but inside, it is wearing us out. How can we put everything we have into being a CEO and a mom, a wife and an entrepreneur, soccer mom of the year, and effective in ministry? How do we find time to have a thriving relationship with God through Jesus Christ and strong connections with others while keeping up this frantic pace?
Thankfully, Christ offers a solution for all this distraction and busyness in Matthew 11:28 - 30. The Message Bible says it so plainly: “Are you tired? Worn out? Burned out on religion? Come to Me. Get away with Me, and you’ll recover your life. I’ll show you how to take a real rest. Walk with me and work with Me - watch how I do it. Learn the unforced rhythms of grace. I won’t lay anything heavy or ill-fitting on you. Keep company with me, and you’ll learn to live freely and lightly”.
His solution is for us to come to Him. If we are “tired” and “worn out,” Christ invites us to come - to move toward Him. That’s our first step in living an undivided life - drawing closer to Him.
Reflection:
What might it look like to “recover your life”?
What is the rhythm of your life?
How can you align your life to “the unforced rhythms of grace”?
