Obedient Faith
Joshua had the incredible task of leading God’s people, Israel, into the promised land. They had just crossed the Jordan River, yet standing between them and their promised land was Jericho. A great walled-up city. You can imagine how they must have felt seeing this enormous, immovable, locked-up wall standing in front of them. No doubt, some would have struggled with doubt or given up hope of ever seeing their promised land.
But seeing their despair, God sent them a WORD reminding them of His PROMISE, despite what they could see with their natural eyes. Then He gave them a strategy of how to overcome the obstacle. Though God’s strategy for victory seemed foolish, Joshua followed God’s instructions to the letter and then the massive walls collapsed instantly, and Israel won an easy victory.
Joshua 6:20 says, ‘And it happened when the people heard the sound of the trumpet, and the people shouted with a great shout, that the wall fell flat…’
When we’re faced with insurmountable odds and the path seems impossible, we can put our trust in God and take Him at His Word—because that’s when the impossible happens.
