Beginner's Guide to Fastingنموونە

Now that you have seen some of the benefits of fasting, I want to share three of the most common fasts.
The first one is known as a full fast. A full fast requires you to abstain from all foods and consume only liquids. With this fast, you usually choose the length. The prompting of the Holy Spirit should influence the number of days you choose.
The next kind of fast is a partial fast. A partial fast happens from sunrise to sundown.
For example, if you wake up at 6:00 am, you might consider fasting until 5-6:00 pm. However, you have the liberty to choose how to go about doing it. You can adjust the hours, as well as the type of restrictions. For instance, you can choose to eat no food but drink water; you can choose to give up a single food item, like chocolate; or do a partial day fast where you follow the Daniel-fast template.
Lastly, another form of fasting is the template provided by Daniel, known as Daniel’s Fast.
The Daniel Fast is a fast preferred by those on medications. It has to do with giving up pleasurable foods such as meat, sweets, and bread. It consists of eating fruits, vegetables and drinking water and juice.
Today’s Prayer:
God, give me the wisdom to choose what type of fast to partake in. I pray your Holy Spirit is my compass and strength when I fast.

The practice of fasting is prevalent in the Scriptures. We see throughout the Bible this concept was practiced by kings, prophets, and all of God’s people to this day. As you fast, you’ll notice it will help increase your humility, your hunger, and your holiness as you are formed into the image of Christ.
