Power in the Nameنموونە

HE IS YHWH
How many times have you found your day disrupted or detonated by an unexpected event? Your plans collapse in a moment and this new trial consumes you. Perhaps even as you read this your spirit is sapped from too many sleepless nights. Today we find Moses facing unfathomable fears. He’s a fugitive in hiding now charged by God to return to his accusers and demand the release of the slave labourers at the centre of Egypt’s economy. ‘Who shall I say sends me?‘ asks Moses. Whoever THAT is had better hold some power right? We hear the crippling doubts in Moses’ question. The answer: four letters that form a word so sacred that many would not even say it out loud. YHWH. In later years it would be pronounced Yahweh. Across the millennia since, scholars have populated whole library shelves with the glory and potency of Yahweh’s meaning. But in the context of Moses, most believe YHWH to mean ‘He is’. He is has no limits. He is beyond beginning and end. He is outside of our understanding of time and transcends our understanding of what power looks like. He is above and outside anything we can build, dream or comprehend. He is – bigger than what you are facing today. He is LORD.
