Malnutrition
“But He answered and said, “It is written, ‘Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God."
Matthew. 4:4
The World Food Programme (WFP) and the World Health Organization (WHO) reveal that more than three million children under five years old die from malnutrition every year. Malnutrition is the cause of half of all deaths of children under five years old. The cause of this malnutrition is the lack of eating nutritious foods. People affected by malnutrition become sick and even die.
An unbeliever is a spiritually dead person. Some believers are spiritually malnourished. They are not spiritually malnourished because of the unavailability of good spiritual nutrition but because of their unwillingness to eat and enjoy the good nutritious spiritual food God has provided them.
Poor spiritual nutrition has also caused many believers to be spiritually unhealthy. As a result, they always fail and lose in their spiritual struggles. This incident may not happen to them if they want to understand and do what was said by Lord Jesus, “Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds from the mouth of God.”
Humans live physically by eating bread or other physical food. Humans live spiritually by eating spiritual food, which refers to every word that proceeds from the mouth of God. Unfortunately, sometimes we give more portions to eat physically than spiritually. Eating excessive physical food is not good for health. Eating a lot of spiritual food is good. If we give enough food and water (together with snacks and other things) to our physical bodies, what do we do to meet our spiritual nutritional needs? While eating physically, we want a complete menu that consists of rice, vegetables, side dishes, fruit, and even milk. How about our spiritual food menu?
Reflection:
1. How is your spiritual health? Are you suffering from poor spiritual nutrition?
2. What can you do to ensure that you are not suffering from malnutrition?
Application:
Complete your life with good spiritual nutrition.

Stagnation is something that will hinder the pace of spiritual maturity. If believers do not rise to overcome it soon, the enemy will use stagnation to "kill" their spirituality sooner or later. Through this "Walking with Jesus" devotional series, we will discover what the Bible teaches to rise and grow.
