There's Hope For Todayنموونە

Before the world was created, there was song. Where God is – there is song. His Church is a singing church. Music is not for a talented few whose gifts invoke a sense of wonder in the rest of us. Music is for everyone, and a joyful noise will do! Music is not window dressing. It is a spiritual act of worship that draws us ever deeper into the wonders of God! Paul used snippets of early hymns in his writings. The early Church did lots of singing! Most New Testament scholars agree that the following portions of text are bits and pieces of early hymns of the Church: Romans 8:31-39 begins with triumphant chorus, “If God is for us, who can be against us!” Romans 11:33-36 and Ephesians 1:3-14, 20-23, and 2:14-18 are pieces of ancient hymns. You can almost catch a lyrical cadence when Paul writes in Ephesians 5:14, “Awake you who sleep, arise from the dead, and Christ will give you light.” Philippians 2:6-11 and Colossians 1:15-20 are creedal hymns of the early Church. Paul’s famous love chapter, written in 1 Corinthians 13, was probably sung long before it was quoted in wedding ceremonies. As much as one third of the Scripture shows evidence of musical structure. The Bible sings from pre-creation to new-creation … so should we.
