Peter lists evidence of God’s judgment on the ungodly: God’s judgment on the angels who sinned, God’s judgment on unbelievers at the time of the Flood, and God’s judgment on Sodom and Gomorrah. In the midst of this judgment, God also demonstrates His willingness to deliver His own from temptation, as we see with Lot. Those judged ungodly were described as lustful, proud, and unwilling to submit to authority. God’s judgment is real, but God’s deliverance of believers from temptation is also real.
