SPIRITUAL OBITUARIES
A pastor told a story of a professor who started each semester having his students write their own obituary. Then, he asked them whether they would live differently today if they knew their end was near and the obituary would be published.
We do not often live like people who know the end is near. We think our obituaries can wait -- that we can neglect our spiritual responsibilities because we still have lots of time. It is not fashionable today to talk about the end and the implication that holds for our neighbors. That's a hard truth, and many today don't believe in absolute truth.
Peter warns against that tendency. He tells us to love like the end is near because it is. Love your children and teach them to love others because love covers a multitude of sins. Forgiveness is plentiful when we only have a short time to live.
Love like the world will end tomorrow.

The purpose of this devotional is to see what God's Word has to say about the parenting challenges every parent faces. Each day includes a passage of Scripture and an application of that passage to the trials and triumphs of leading families to maturity in Christ. The devotionals are created by Parenting by Design, a Fort Worth ministry devoted to teaching parents to lead their children the way God lead His children.
