Be the light to the world Jesus intended you to be! This is part eight of eight in the "Jesus, I Need You" series by Thistlebend Ministries, focusing on drawing closer to Jesus. The plans in this series can be done in any order. See also "Jesus, I Need You" (companion prayer).

How often are we given the idea that being a Christian is a joyful, peaceful and carefree life? As well as the idea that you may have some bumps in the journey here and there, yet with a prayer or two, everything will be right-as-rain? There are those times when these ideas are fulfilled in our Christian lives. However, what often is not talked about is the hell you will have to endure to reach the Heaven that is promised. In this 6-Day reading plan, we will journey through the reality of the Christian walk to capture the hope that is total devotion to and love for Jesus Christ.

There’s no doubt that we gravitate to the promises of God. The side we don’t like is the side of struggle when following Jesus. Walking and living for Jesus will bring both great and difficult times. Jesus warns us about these days and the way people will respond to us because of how they respond to Him. Take heart – Jesus hasn’t left us alone– we have the Holy Spirit!

As Jesus considered His last remaining moments with His disciples before His crucifixion, He made sure they knew everything that was most important for the uncertain future they were walking into. What happens when God’s people pray? How ready are you to stop what you are doing and minister to someone in need? Or to justify the way you live to others? How about when situations are difficult? How do we respond? In this study, we’ll dive into a story in Acts to see how God worked in an unexpected situation and how it applies to us today.

Near the end of his life, John was the last of the living apostles and wrote a story about Jesus. It’s his testimony of who Jesus is, what he said, what he did, and who he claimed to be. Jesus has a story. He invites us to make it our story. When we make Jesus’s story our story, we have life in his name. This plan focuses on Jesus’s final moments and words with his disciples, preparing them for his crucifixion to come. It is Jesus’s last will & testament. This plan focuses on the second half of Jesus's words in John 15 and is part of an ongoing series.

Jesus took time to prepare His disciples for the impending rejection that they would face because of following Him. He not only explained why they would be persecuted but also promised them an Advocate who would be with them after He had left. His Words provide perspective and encouragement as we seek to be faithful when we face opposition.

 As children of God, we have been given a new home and a new hope. And when we learn to live for heaven, the cares and weights of this world fall off our shoulders in light of our place in God’s advancing Kingdom. In this 7-day plan, you’ll create space every day to cast your burdens at the feet of Jesus, and rejoice in the hope of the eternal life you’re already living in God. 

At times areas of our lives are like a wilderness: grief, loss of hope, rejection all play their part. But during these times, God loves to come alongside with His deep compassion and love. The Bible is full of stories of how God brought wonderful transformation in people’s lives. Father God can do the same today, to bring joy to your wilderness and transform your desert into a living stream.

In a world where kids and teens struggle with anxiety and fear, we might think the answer is building up their confidence. But what our kids really need is confidence not in themselves but in the God who has a unique purpose for them. This week we’ll look at how building up God-confidence in our kids leads to peace, resiliency, and joy.

Where is real life found? The Bible tells us that we find it abiding in Christ. In this fifth and last devotional plan from the Real Life series, we learn that there is a downside to abiding in Christ. But that downside is nothing when compared to the upside, because we are not victims but victors in our life in Christ. The struggles we meet are meant to strengthen us.
