Our greatest and first command is to love the Lord with all our heart, soul and mind. To love God with all your heart is to set your affections on God. To love Him with all your soul is to love Him with the very core of who you are. To love Him with all your mind is to think right thoughts of God. The three of these sum up the whole of who we are.
We are to love God with everything we are. It is a complete love. To love Him should be the one thing we desire most. Of all the commands He has given us, what He wants most is our devotion to Him. From that will flow obedience to all other commands.
