Devotional Focus: When God Dwells Among Us

Exodus 40 brings us to a powerful and sacred moment—the completion of the tabernacle and the filling of the sanctuary with the glory of God. After all the instruction, preparation, giving, and building, the moment finally arrives: God comes to dwell among His people.

Can you imagine the awe and wonder as the cloud covered the tent of meeting and the glory of the Lord filled the tabernacle? This wasn’t just a structure anymore—it was a place of divine presence. A place where God’s people could meet with Him, follow His lead, and worship Him fully.

As moms, this chapter is a gentle nudge to ask ourselves: Have we made room for God’s presence in our homes and hearts? Is He just a part of our Sunday routines, or is our daily life structured around Him?

When the Israelites completed the work exactly as the Lord commanded, His glory came. There’s something powerful about obedience that invites God’s presence. In the same way, when we invite God into our everyday routines, our parenting, our decisions, and even our quiet time—we create a “tabernacle” where His presence can rest.

Let your home be a place where God is honored—not perfectly, but intentionally. Let your children see that the presence of God is not just a concept, but a reality you pursue and welcome every day.

Prayer:

Lord, thank You for the gift of Your presence. Just as You filled the tabernacle with Your glory, fill my heart and home with Your presence. Help me to make space for You daily—in my thoughts, my schedule, and my family rhythms. Teach me to obey You fully, knowing that Your presence brings peace, direction, and transformation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
