DAY 2 OF 5

Day Two: love me as i am

There’s something about waiting that exposes what’s really inside us.

When the answers take longer than we hoped, when the next step still isn’t clear, we start to see the parts of ourselves we’d rather not. That’s what’s happening in this moment between Jesus and Peter. Jesus bends down to wash Peter’s feet, and Peter resists. He doesn’t understand what Jesus is doing yet. Jesus even says, “You don’t realize now what I am doing, but later you will understand.”

That’s the space most of us live in. The in-between. The not-yet.

We often want absolute clarity from God, but He offers us closeness instead. He kneels right there, patiently, still willing to wash us clean; still loving us as we are.

“Art in the making, I’m clay in Your hands
Mercy in motion, spinning like grace”

We may not be “there” yet. We may not fully understand what He’s doing. But we can choose to stay close to Jesus anyway. To be clay in His hands.

Waiting has a way of revealing the things in us that are still being formed. But that’s where worship can happen. Not when everything is a finished work, but while He’s still shaping what’s still unfinished.

So if you’re in a season that feels uncertain, remember this: you’re still in His hands. The One who loves you as you are will also love you into what you’re supposed to become and where you’re supposed to be.

Prayer:
Jesus, thank You for loving me in the middle of the process. When I don’t understand what You’re doing, help me stay close. Teach me to trust You, like clay in the potter’s hands. Amen.

About this Plan

Interlude: A 5-Day Devotional on Worship & Waiting by Matt Crocker

Between what was and what's next, between the promise and the fulfillment, there's often a space that feels uncertain and unsure. The Bible shows us that those in-between moments, those interludes, aren't wasted gaps. They can be a holy space where faith grows and worship happens. Interlude: A 5-Day Devotional on Worship & Waiting by Matt Crocker invites you to rediscover Jesus in the middle of waiting, change, or uncertainty about life. Through Scriptures from the Gospel of John and Acts, and songs from the interlude project, you'll learn what it means to trust, surrender, and worship.
