The Gift of Jesus: A Five-Day Devotional for the Holidays

DAY 4 OF 5

We’ve talked about light breaking into darkness, peace that steadies us, and joy that shows up even in sorrow. But there’s something that ties all of those together: the presence of God. None of it matters without Him.

That’s why the name given to Jesus (Immanuel) is so powerful. It means God with us. Not God far off. Not God watching from a distance. It means God is here. God is close. God is in the middle of our everyday, messy, ordinary lives.

The holidays can pull us in all different directions. Sometimes we’re surrounded by people and noise, and other times we feel the ache of loneliness in our bones. But no matter what we are feeling this holiday season, the truth doesn’t change: We are not alone. God is with us in the laughter, in the stress, in the grief, and in the quiet. God is always with us. Always.

Prayer: Please remind me today that I am not alone this holiday season. Please give me strength, peace, joy, and courage today.

The Gift of Jesus: A Five-Day Devotional for the Holidays

The winter holidays are supposed to be a time of joy, but if we’re honest, they can feel overwhelming. Between the busyness of traditions and the stress of finishing a year, it’s easy to miss the heart of it all. If you feel anxious about the upcoming holidays, this five-day devotional is for you. Take a moment to slow down and remember what the season is really about: the gift of Jesus.
