NOT MY WILL: 5 Days in Gethsemane

DAY 5 OF 5

The Morning After Gethsemane

Devotion: After the agony. After the sweat like blood. After three desperate prayers. After "not My will, but Yours"—Jesus got up. "Rise, let us be going."

He didn't stay in Gethsemane forever. He prayed, He surrendered, then He moved forward. Even though what was coming would destroy Him, He walked toward it with purpose.

This is what surrender looks like: you pray through the agony, you wrestle with God until you release your will, and then you get up and obey—even when obedience leads to a cross.

Notice Jesus' composure. "Rise, let us be going." No panic. No bitterness. No running. He faced His betrayer with steady resolve because He'd already settled the battle in prayer. Gethsemane gave Him strength for the cross.

Your Gethsemane moment isn't meant to be your permanent address. It's where you surrender, not where you stay. You don't live there—you pray there, submit there, then rise and move forward.

After Gethsemane came betrayal, arrest, trial, beating, and crucifixion. But after that came resurrection. The worst Friday in history became Good Friday because Sunday was coming.

Whatever you're facing after your Gethsemane prayer—rise. Let's be going. Don't camp in the garden. Move forward in obedience. Sunday's coming.

Jesus didn't bypass the cross. He walked through it. And on the other side? Victory. Resurrection. Redemption for the world. Your obedience through pain creates purpose you can't yet see.

Declaration: "I rise from my Gethsemane with surrender and strength. I move forward in obedience. Sunday is coming. Resurrection follows surrender."

Prayer: "Jesus, thank You for showing me how to surrender. I've wrestled, I've prayed, I've released my will. Now give me strength to rise and obey. I trust that resurrection follows crucifixion. Lead me forward. In Your name, amen."
