Loved by the Lord

YAHWEH, you have given me a place of honor in your house. I am just like one of the olive trees that was planted in the temple courtyards so long ago. They were tended by the Levites, cultivated and pruned regularly. They were set apart from other trees, made special because of their close proximity to you. They were protected and loved, which made them all the more beautiful. And because they were so well cared for, they produced their fruit in season.

Just as olive oil was used to anoint kings and priests of old, so you have anointed me as part of your chosen people (1 Peter 2:9). As a priest, I give my life to worship you. As a king, I bow down before you, knowing that any authority I have comes from you. You have showered blessing after blessing upon me. I can stand strong because I am so well-loved.

When can you carve out extra time to spend with the Lord? Being with him is the best part of life.

Spend time with the Lord daily. Thank him for setting you apart as his beloved child. Allow him to shape your heart and character to be more like his Son’s.
