GENESIS 42
In chapter 42, Joseph’s past suddenly resurfaces — not just for him, but for his brothers and father too. We see how each of them is shaken in their own way. In Joseph, we see an internal struggle: he seems torn between taking revenge or treating his brothers with kindness. He chooses the latter — and that reveals much about his character.
Later, something very similar happens in Israel’s story. Jesus enters the scene, bringing the Good News, healing, forgiving sins, and announcing the Kingdom of God on Earth. In response, some Jews insult Him, reject Him, and conspire to kill Him. He is the King of the Jews, yet crucified by His own people! Still, Jesus responds with grace. He gave us everything we didn’t deserve. Jesus is not offended by our sins; He always responds with kindness, grace, and love.
LET'S PRAY:
As a consequence of sin, Joseph's brothers received grace. They were cared for by Joseph and surprised! Grace boils down to receiving something we do not deserve from God. Today, He invites us to taste His grace. Your past has no power to tear you away from the presence of your good Father. On the contrary, He wants you to cling to Him and allow yourself to be changed. Pray for the Lord to help you recognize His grace over your history, and for the marks of the past to remain where they need to be — in the past. You can live today enjoying God's presence!
