The Burning Altar - 14 Days of Calling the Church to Prayনমুনা

Awakening the Sleeping Church
“The tragedy of today is that the situation is desperate, but the saints are not.”- Vance Hayner
There is a stirring in the Spirit in this hour—a holy call for the church to awaken from its sleep. For too long we have drifted into spiritual slumber, delighted by comfort, routine, and distraction. The world is burning, souls are perishing, and the enemy continues to advance—but the greatest tragedy is a church that is asleep while the battle rages!
Prayer is the alarm clock of heaven. It shakes us from spiritual complacency and sets our hearts ablaze with holy fire. Through prayer, the “spiritual fog” lifts, discernment sharpens, and the Spirit breathes fresh life into weary souls. A praying church cannot remain in hibernation! Prayer must awaken us, revive us, and ignite us.
When we bend our knees to the ground, we invite heaven to invade earth. When we lift our voices to the heavens, we declare war on darkness. When we persevere in intercession, we awaken not only ourselves but the body of Christ around us. Revival does not begin with crowds or movements—it begins with a remnant on their knees, crying out for God’s glory to fall!
This is not the hour for the blood-bought church to remain dormant. The Spirit of God is calling His people to rise, watch, and pray. The sleeping church must awaken, for the world needs a radiant, praying, Spirit-filled bride. Let the sound of your prayers be the trumpet blast that awakens the army of the Lord!
Prayer
Father God, forgive us for our slumber and complacency. Awaken Your church with holy fire! Shake us from apathy and stir us to prayer that changes nations. Let revival begin on our knees and spread like wildfire through Your people. Empower us to be watchmen on the wall, intercessors in the gap, and warriors of light. May Your Holy Spirit awaken us, and may Christ shine through us to a world in desperate need of You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Reflection Questions
- In what ways have I grown spiritually complacent or sleepy?
- How can I set aside intentional time daily to pray for revival in the church?
- Who around me needs me to “stand in the gap” in prayer for their awakening?
