Forever Welcomed: A Five-Day Journey Into God’s Heart for All

DAY 2 OF 5

FREEDOM TO BEGIN AGAIN

Just as Adam and Eve sinned and faced the consequences, yet were met with God’s invitation to restoration (Genesis 3:21), we too are extended that same gracious welcome when we turn from our sin.

True impartiality means that God holds each one of us to the same standard of righteousness, regardless of past, position, or power. This truth can be difficult for us to embrace, but if we lean in, we’ll see that this is not the antithesis of hope— it’s the very source of it. God’s impartiality isn’t a barrier to His love; it’s the very bridge that draws us back to Him again and again (Revelation 19:11).

God’s impartial love has two outcomes. For those who reject Him, it leads to eternal separation from God (Romans 1:18). But for those who humble themselves before Him, it leads to restoration (John 3:17). The same God who judges sin is the God who rescues sinners. God’s impartial love confronts sin, but it also welcomes us through redemption in Jesus Christ.

In the Old Testament, God established a pattern to bring justice and equity to the people of Israel. During every seventh year, a Sabbatical year occurred. The Jubilee year occurred on the fiftieth year after seven cycles of seven years had passed (Leviticus 25:1-7). During the Jubilee year, people had a chance to start anew; land was returned to its rightful owners, and debts were wiped away, freeing those who had sold themselves into servitude.

Jesus claims this promise as His mission, reading from Isaiah in Luke 4:18-19: “The Spirit of the Lord is on me . . . to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” With these words, Jesus announces the arrival of the ultimate Jubilee. He offers the soul-satisfying liberation that only God can bring: freedom from spiritual debt and bondage to sin. In Jesus, the long-awaited Jubilee is no longer a year on a calendar; it’s a reality unfolding in the lives of those who follow Him. Jesus is our reset, our opportunity to begin again.

How does it change how you view yourself to realize that no matter how far you’ve wandered or how broken you feel, God is ready to welcome you back to Himself?

About this Plan

Forever Welcomed: A Five-Day Journey Into God’s Heart for All

Do you find yourself living as if you could earn God’s love or fear you could lose it? Scripture tells a different story: God’s love is impartial. It’s not based on your past, position, or power—it’s grounded in His unchanging character. This devotional by Oghosa Iyamu traces the often-overlooked attribute of God’s impartial love throughout the biblical narrative, inviting you to receive and reflect this kind of love.
