Day 8: Keep Your Eye on the Ball:
Salvation is not the finish line—it’s the starting point. When you’re saved by Jesus, you’re not just rescued from something; you’re called to something. God didn’t just forgive your past—He has prepared a purpose for your future. And that purpose begins with love.
“He said to him, ‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the greatest and most important command. The second is like it: Love your neighbor as yourself. All the Law and the Prophets depend on these two commands” (Matthew 22:37-40, CSB).
This is the heartbeat of the Christian life: love God and love people. Not out of obligation, but because your heart has been transformed by grace. Everything else flows from that love. It’s not just about going to church or checking spiritual boxes—it’s about living every moment as someone who has been changed by Jesus.
And you weren’t just saved to sit—you were saved to serve.
“For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do” (Ephesians 2:10, NIV).
You are God’s masterpiece. He crafted you intentionally—with gifts, passions, and opportunities that are meant to reflect His love to the world. Your life isn’t random. Your job, your school, your neighborhood, your family—none of it is by accident. You’ve been placed there on purpose, for a purpose.
But you’re not called to fulfill that purpose alone. Jesus gave us a mission, but He also gave us His power.
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come on you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth” (Acts 1:8, CSB).
The Holy Spirit is not just a theological concept. He’s your Helper, your Guide, your Source of courage and conviction. You cannot live out your calling in your own strength—and you don’t have to. The Spirit fills you, empowers you, and sends you. Without Him, the Christian life is impossible. With Him, nothing is.
Jesus didn’t just call you to follow Him—He called you to make disciples.
“Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit” (Matthew 28:19, ESV).
This is your mission. Not just for pastors or missionaries—but for every believer. To go. To reach. To love. To disciple. Whether you’re crossing an ocean or crossing the street, the call is the same: take what God has done in you, and share it with the world.
Today, ask yourself: How am I loving God? How am I loving people? Where has God placed me, and how can I serve Him there? What step of faith can I take, relying not on my own strength but on the Spirit’s power?
You weren’t just saved from sin. You were saved for a mission. Don’t settle for surviving—step into your purpose, live sent, and keep your eye on the ball.
