Acts 22:22-30 | in God's Hands

DAY 5 OF 5

Keep Moving Forward

“So the next day he released him and ordered the chief priests and all the members of the Sanhedrin to assemble. Then he brought Paul and had him stand before them” (Acts 22:30, NIV).

The Sanhedrin had been no friend to Jesus and the Jerusalem church. Peter and John faced them earlier in Acts. Jesus faced them before that. Being sent to the Sanhedrin looked risky, but it was also a new opportunity to testify about Christ. It was a new opportunity to show that Jesus and his kingdom would not be silenced. It was a new opportunity for Paul to bring Jesus’s good news to kings and counselors. We’ll see later in Acts that it opens the door to bringing the gospel straight to the emperor in the heart of Rome.

When you’re in God’s hands, the next step is never wasted. Even if it’s uncertain in the moment.

Every step—even trials—can be part of God’s bigger mission. Each day brings a new step. God is on that path.

So keep moving forward. Leverage the opportunities God has given you. Put yourself into God’s call as if God is putting the responsibility on you. But lean into God, knowing the power and authority are ultimately his. No matter our path, we can walk with him. Whatever unforeseen path we might be on.

Lord, help me see every circumstance as a chance to serve you, knowing I am in your hands. Help me take the step I can take today, trusting you with tomorrow.

Questions:

How might God be using a current challenge as an opportunity for his work? What would change if you saw every difficulty as a part of God’s mission? What next step of faith is God asking you to take?
