DAY 21 – SONGS OF JOY

Reflection: The goodness of God draws joy to the surface of our lives, overflowing into song. This psalm of praise begins with the phrase ‘Praise awaits’ as the writer looks forward to gathering with other believers to praise God together. As they benefit from God’s forgiveness (vs 3) and are blessed to be brought near by him (vs 4), he answers as a Saviour.

This foreshadows the great saving work of God through Jesus, which is ‘the hope of all the ends of the earth’ or as Luke records in Acts 1:8 ‘you will be my witnesses … to the ends of the earth’.

The One who answers with awesome and mighty deeds, the hope of all the ends of the earth, who formed mountains and is armed with strength, who stills roaring seas and roaring nations, this One gave himself for us on a cross, rising again, defeating death, that we might know him and make him known. No wonder our mouths are filled with songs of joy.

Choose joy: Across the world on any given Sunday, praise awaits as the church gathers, even to the ends of the earth. Place yourself there, too.
