Through the Word: Knowing God, Making Him Knownনমুনা

Jesus Interceding:
Another way we live missionally is through prayer, specifically, intercession. In John 17, we see Jesus interceding for us (NIV). Intercession means standing in the gap on behalf of someone else—a person, a group, or even a nation. It’s not just praying to God, but praying with God. We join Jesus, who is seated at the right hand of the Father, interceding on our behalf.
In intercession, we grow in love. It takes our eyes off ourselves and places them on God and others. While many desire platforms or influence, few will intercede in secret. But that’s where heaven moves. 1 John 5 tells us that when we pray according to His will, He hears us (NIV). Intercession is about alignment with God’s heart—letting His desires, burdens, and purposes shape our prayers. He wants His heart to beat within ours. Let your heart break for what breaks His. Let tears be your prayers. Intercession is where we are transformed—where we gain God’s perspective and step into spiritual battle (Ephesians 6), releasing His purposes on the earth. Jesus calls us to intercede because He wants us to partner with Him in His victory over the enemy. What an honor!
Take a moment to read John 17 and then seek God and intercede WITH Jesus about anything He brings to mind today.
