WE SHALL NOT DIE - Reading With the People of God #17

DAY 34 OF 61

Kingdom of Righteousness

As we read Isaiah 15–16 and Acts 4 today, we witness the sobering consequences of rebellion against God. In both passages, pay close attention to what happens when people resist the ways of the Lord.

In Isaiah, the prophecy against Moab is devastating. Cities fall. People flee. Pride is exposed. And yet—even in the middle of judgment—there’s a glimmer of hope:

"Then a throne will be established in steadfast love,
and on it will sit in faithfulness
in the tent of David
one who judges and seeks justice
and is swift to do righteousness." — Isaiah 16:5 ESV

This is a promise. The One is coming. He will bring justice, righteousness, and steadfast love. Even as nations fall, God is preparing a Kingdom that will never end.

Now turn to Acts 4. The same rebellious spirit is alive in the religious leaders who resist the gospel and persecute the disciples. But unlike Moab, we also see faithful followers who boldly stand for the One prophesied in Isaiah 16:5—Jesus, the prophesied King.

Look at the transformation in His disciples. Look at their courage, unity, and boldness. Look at the community they built. Is this not the beginning of the Kingdom of the One who sits on that throne of righteousness?

About this Plan

WE SHALL NOT DIE - Reading With the People of God #17

In this 17th installment of Reading with the People of God, we continue following a lectionary rhythm—Old Testament, New Testament, and Psalms. This plan explores the prophetic voices of Micah, Habakkuk, and Isaiah, who confronted kings and warned of coming judgment while pointing to the hope of the Messiah. Alongside these, we'll read from the Gospel of Luke and the book of Acts, tracing the life of Christ and the birth of the Church. As we read these powerful passages in parallel, may the Spirit shape us and grow us in Christ together.
