God Meets You Where You Are
You don't have to clean up your life before coming to God
Picture this: A guy who just destroyed his family is running for his life through the desert. No GPS, no plan, no clue where he's going. When it gets dark, he grabs a rock for a pillow and crashes in the middle of nowhere. Then the impossible happens—the God of the universe decides this is the perfect moment for a house call.
Not in a temple. Not after Jacob cleaned up his act. Not when he was "spiritually ready." Right there in the dirt, with a criminal record and trust issues.
Jacob wakes up and says, "Wait... WHAT? God was here, and I completely missed it?"
Here's what's wild: You might be missing it too.
Maybe you feel like Jacob—like you're running from something, or you don't have it all figured out. Maybe you're scrolling through life feeling like something's off. Like, there should be more than just the endless cycle of school-work-stress-repeat. Maybe you're questioning everything you were taught as a kid, wondering if any of it actually matters. Maybe you're dealing with family drama that makes you wonder where God is in the mess.
What if I told you God might already be in your story, in ways you haven't recognized yet?
He's not waiting for you to get your life together first. He's not sitting in heaven with a clipboard, checking off requirements you haven't met. He's showing up in the most unexpected places: in your 3 AM anxiety spirals when suddenly a thought brings peace, in conversations with friends that go deeper than usual, in moments when beauty stops you in your tracks.
God has a habit of crashing into the ordinary. God specializes in showing up where you least expect Him—especially when you're running from something.
Here's the Plot Twist: You don't have to be perfect to encounter God. You don't need a religious resume. You just need to pay attention. Sometimes the very experiences that make you feel furthest from God are actually invitations to discover Him in ways you never imagined. You don't even need to believe everything yet. Jacob woke up and said, "God was here and I didn't even know it." Sometimes God shows up in the most ordinary, broken places.
Stop and Think:
- When have you felt like something bigger was happening, even if you couldn't name it?
- What if your questions and doubts aren't keeping you from God—what if they're leading you toward Him?
Talk to God: "Okay, God—if You're actually there, I'm curious. I don't have this figured out, and I'm not sure I want the version of faith I've seen before. But if You're real, and if You're really okay with meeting me exactly where I am... show me. Help me notice You in ways that actually make sense to my life."
