Day 2: Silent Speech

"Day to day pours forth speech, and night to night declares knowledge. There is no speech, nor are there words; their voice is not heard;" (Psalm 19:2-3, NRSV)

One of the most eloquent sermons I ever heard was preached by a sunrise. No words, no arguments, no PowerPoint presentation. Just light gradually conquering darkness, faithful as breathing, quiet as hope.

We live in a civilisation addicted to noise. We mistake volume for truth, urgency for importance. We've convinced ourselves that the loudest voice wins, that the most tweets equals the most truth.

But creation speaks differently. It proclaims God's glory through showing up, day after day, season after season. The sun doesn't argue for God's existence; it simply rises. The moon doesn't debate God's faithfulness; it simply waxes and wanes in perfect rhythm.

What if the most profound truths come wrapped in silence? What if wisdom whispers while foolishness shouts?

TODAY: Find two minutes of complete silence. No music, no podcasts, no mental chatter. Just listen to what silence might be trying to tell you.

PRAYER: God of the speaking silence, in a world that never stops talking, teach me to hear your voice in the quiet places. Let your wordless wisdom speak louder than all the noise competing for my soul. Amen.
