Simple Prayer: How to Pray Like Jesusনমুনা

Forgive and Protect Us
A Cry for Mercy
Read: Psalm 51
"Have mercy on me, O God, according to your unfailing love; according to your great compassion blot out my transgressions." (Psalm 51:1 NIV)
Devotional Thought:
Psalm 51 is David’s heartfelt confession after serious sin (see 2 Sam 11 and 12). He doesn’t minimise what he’s done but throws himself on God’s mercy. This is where forgiveness begins—not with shame, but with honesty before a loving God. When we pray, “Forgive us our sins,” we’re not asking a reluctant judge but a compassionate Father. God’s mercy invites us to come clean and come close.
Reflection Activity (Examen Step: Review the Day):
Take five minutes tonight to reflect back on your day in your prayer journal. Where did you feel close to God? Where did you fall short? Write honestly, then bring those things to God in prayer, asking for mercy.
Prayer:
Merciful Father, I come before you with honesty. Cleanse me, restore me, and renew a right spirit within me. Thank you for your unfailing love. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
