Day 1 | He Started It

“We love because He first loved us.” ‭‭1 John‬ ‭4‬:‭19‬

Adoration begins when you understand God’s love for you. Jesus is the Great Initiator. He loved you first—it all starts with Him! When you were deep in sin, He pulled you from the pit and redeemed you from a life of sin and destruction. Jesus overflows with love and affection for you when He thinks of you. From this place, you get the opportunity to pour your love out on Him, by telling Him you love Him back. Our love for Him is a response to His great, undeniable love for us!

As you connect with God through Adoration, recognize His love for you first. He knows every hair on your head, and He loved and chose you before the foundation of the earth (Luke 12:7; Ephesians 1:4). Even after He created the entire universe, He still found it necessary to create you in His image! When you connect with God through Adoration, it is difficult not to respond in worship to the deep, unending, and everlasting love He has shown you. As you see His great love for you, lavish your love back on Him. Tell Him how thankful you are, and how much you love Him. Receive His love, then pour it back on Him.

Prayer

Father, thank you for Your radical love for me. Show me even more, just how much you love me. Teach me how to respond by pouring my love back on you! In Jesus’ name, amen.

• Be still and meditate on his love for you.
• As you listen and contemplate on God’s love for you, respond to His love by singing to Him with all your heart, a love song for Jesus, the Lover of your soul.
