The Cross: The Importance of Believing in Jesus
"I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me." (Galatians 2:20)
To be crucified with Christ is a death that frees and restores the soul. This is the paradox of the cross. What was once known as a symbol of defeat and humiliation has become a banner of glory and victory. Being "crucified with Christ" is an invitation to go to the cross with Him and die to ourselves. This act is not a loss but a gain, because it frees us from our chains and allows us to live a full and authentic life in Christ. On the cross, we find the doorway to a renewed and transformed life, one of true freedom and pure joy. But how do we attain this victory?
We cannot walk to the cross on our own, because we do not know the way. That’s why we need to trust the One who has already walked the path for us; we need to put our faith and hope in Jesus. Imagine a life where every decision, thought, and action is guided by God's love and wisdom. It doesn't mean we cease to be ourselves; rather, our true identity is revealed in Him and toward Him through faith. This kind of faith is not a mere leap into the void but a confident step into the arms of Christ—the One who died with arms open wide to unite us with the Father. Faith gives us the assurance that Jesus is with us and sustaining us on the journey. Therefore, He gives us His grace to face daily difficulties with hope and boldness.
Every day, we face opportunities—at work, in family, in community—to practice being crucified with Christ. When we understand the magnitude of God's love, our natural response will always be to surrender our lives to Him in faith. Living in Christ is not a burden, but a great privilege. His love compels us to love Him and others. May this week of reflection take us back to the cross not just to die, but to live with Christ and in Christ the only life that truly matters.

About this Plan

God desires a relationship with all of us and has done everything possible to make it simple. But often, we are the ones who complicate what is simple without reason. In this six-part devotional, a team of Ibero-American students from Wesley Seminary invites us to rediscover the essence of Easter and the Christian faith in its purest and most accessible form.
