Developing Spiritual Effectiveness Through Daily Intimacy With Godনমুনা

EFFECTIVE PEOPLE PRIORITISE REST
One often-neglected key to spiritual effectiveness is the discipline of rest. Even Jesus emphasized rest to His disciples, saying, “Come ye yourselves apart into a desert place, and rest a while…” (Mark 6:31). He understood that constant activity without adequate rest would diminish their spiritual and physical effectiveness.
I frequently remind people that rest is not laziness; it is wisdom. Psalm 127:2 says, “It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.” Overworking yourself without adequate rest leads to burnout, reduces your spiritual sensitivity, and limits your capacity for divine effectiveness.
Even Jesus, despite His busy ministry, took intentional moments of rest. He instructed His disciples to step aside and refresh themselves after intense periods of ministry (Mark 6:31). Your body, mind, and spirit need rest to function optimally and effectively carry out God’s assignments for your life.
Reflect today on how you manage rest in your daily life. Are you constantly exhausted, or do you regularly are available for renewal? Cultivating healthy rhythms of rest will protect you from burnout and enhance your long-term effectiveness in ministry and life.
THOUGHT TO PONDER:
Do you prioritise rest regularly, or are you risking burnout by overworking? What practical steps will you take to establish healthier rhythms of rest?
PRAYER:
Lord, help me to recognise the importance of rest in my spiritual journey. Grant me wisdom to balance diligence and rest effectively, so I can serve You faithfully for the long haul. In Jesus' name, Amen.
