Laziness Is a Serious Matterনমুনা

Martha and Mary
Martha and Mary present us with a contrast between concern for daily tasks and the pursuit of an intimate relationship with Jesus. Martha was busy with many chores, focused on serving and meeting immediate needs. Although her intentions were good, she missed the opportunity to sit at Jesus' feet, listening to His words and learning from Him.
Mary, on the other hand, chose the better part, which was being in the presence of Jesus. She understood that the most important thing was her relationship with the Master, not the everyday concerns. Jesus praised Mary’s choice, showing that our priority should be our spiritual life and our relationship with God.
Spiritual laziness often leads us to choose the easier path, filling our days with tasks and distractions that draw us away from God. We can become so busy with the demands of life that we neglect quality time with our Creator. The real hard choice is to prioritize our communion with God above all other things.
Jesus calls us to choose the better part, just as Mary did. This requires a conscious effort to set aside distractions and focus on what is truly important. We must seek God’s presence in our daily lives, dedicating time to prayer, reading the Bible, and worship. When we do this, we experience the peace and joy that come from being in communion with Him.
Mary’s choice teaches us that true wealth and satisfaction are found in being with Jesus. We must resist the temptation to worry excessively about the things of this world and instead seek God’s presence with all our hearts.
Prayer: Lord, help me to choose the better part, just as Mary did. Give me the wisdom to discern between what is urgent and what is important, and the courage to prioritize my relationship with You above all things. Amen.
