The Gospel of Markনমুনা

The Transfiguration takes place on a mountain. Mountains represented touchpoints of heaven and earth in ancient times. Think about how many times in the Hebrew Bible God would meet with humans on mountains. Some of us are probably familiar with many of the famous biblical mountains: Mount Ararat, Mount Sinai, Mount Moriah, Mount Gerizim, Mount Carmel, Mount Zion, Mount of Olives. The fact that we are familiar with these names shows their significance in the biblical story.
Because of their height, mountains lifted people’s eyes upwards, giving them a fresh perspective of their everyday lives: physically and spiritually. We will look into the significance of this more tomorrow.
